load of footballs on the grass in the rain

As the dust settles on the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, the anticipation for next season is already palpable. Manchester City flexed their muscles and claimed a record-breaking fourth consecutive top-flight title for the first time in history. Now, all attention turns to Germany for UEFA Euro 2024 and England’s quest for a first major crown since 1966. But following that, eyes will be back on the most competitive league in the world.

While it is certainly far too early to make any concrete predictions, we’re going to go ahead and do exactly that. Here are two things that we can see happening in the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Arsenal Will Finally Win the Title

Last season, Arsenal took the title fight into the final month, but unfortunately they couldn’t stay the course and Pep Guardiola’s Blues emerged victorious. This season, they took it to the final day, and didn’t lose to City – or any of the top four for that matter – but it still wasn’t enough. Next season, the third time could be the charm, even though Man City is still the favorite PL Winner on Oddschecker, with the popular comparison site pricing them up as the 13/10 frontrunner.

Under the stewardship of Mikel Arteta, the North London club has been reborn over the last two years. Gone are their agent stars commanding huge wages. In their place have come young and hungry players getting better every week. Led by talented winger Bukayo Saka, captain Martin Odegaard, and defensive ace William Saliba, Arsenal boasts a starting eleven as strong as anything in Europe. Now, however, they have the experience handling the pressure that only comes with a title race.

Additionally, The acquisition of Declan Rice from West Ham last summer has bolstered their midfield, providing both defensive solidity and creative impetus. He was arguably the signing of the season and with plenty of big match experience to his name, he will be crucial in any success the club may have. Plus, Arteta’s tactical acumen cannot be overstated.

Rice’s ability to adapt his game plan according to the opposition has seen his side pick up crucial points in tightly contested matches. His emphasis on maintaining possession, pressing high up the field, and exploiting the flanks has transformed Arsenal into one of the most exciting teams to watch. If they can win the fixtures they are expected to win, with clashes against Aston Villa, West Ham, and Fulham immediately springing to mind, then the title is surely theirs for the taking next term.

Crystal Palace Will Challenge for the Top Four

Crystal Palace’s evolution under Oliver Glasner has been nothing short of remarkable. From being perennial mid-table dwellers, the Eagles have taken flight and are soaring towards new heights. When the German Europa League winner took over the club in February, they were looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone. When the campaign ended, however, they were up in tenth. Had there been a few more games, Palace may well have challenged for the top seven

The rise of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise has been a revelation at Selhurst Park. Both players possess the flair, creativity, and technical ability to unlock the tightest of defences. The former’s dribbling skills and vision, combined with the latter’s pace and crossing ability, make them a nightmare for defenders. Now they have a striker ahead of them in the form of Jean-Philippe Mateta, who is firing on all cylinders, and the trio should catapult the club toward the upper echelons of the division.

Every season, there is a relative unknown aiming for the top four. This season, it was Aston Villa, the season before it was Newcastle – with Brighton not too far behind – and next year, it will be Crystal Palace. Of course, they will need to hang on to their manager – who has been attracting the gaze of Bayern Munich – as well as their devastating trio. But if they do that, then expect them to light up the Premier League once again next season.
